NewsBy Sarah NeishWashington winery Quilceda Creek, which has long owned a stake in the historic Champoux Vineyard, has now acquired the Horse Heaven Hills AVA site in full, saying it is a vineyard that “will go down in history”.
Quilceda Creek, which has been involved with Champoux Vineyard to various degrees for many decades, has snapped up the last remaining stake in the esteemed site, taking its interests from 79% to full ownership.
Comprising 153 acres (62ha) of vines, Champoux’s quality “cannot be replicated” in any other location, according to Quilceda Creek’s winemaker.
These significant diurnal temperature shifts allow the fruit to ripen fully while preserving vibrant natural acidity, according to Quilceda Creek, “yielding balanced, age-worthy wines with exceptional depth and elegance.”
“Champoux is a vineyard that will go down in winegrowing history,” said vineyard manager Dan Nickolaus.
