KALKASKA [mdash] Diana Marie Taylor, 77, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025, in Kalkaska, Michigan. Born on August 25, 1948, in Traverse City, Michigan, to Raymond and Gertrude (Johnson) Burns, she graduated from Central High School in 1966. Diana graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Nursing, leading to a 49-year nursing career. In her spare time, she loved her dogs, horse, and family. She knitted scarves and hats for Birch Street Elementary School and dog beds for Cherryland Humane Society. She also donated to the Women's Resource Center. In retirement, she moved to Kalkaska, cherishing the tranquility of its forests and wildlife. Diana will be deeply missed, leaving a legacy of compassion through her nursing and charitable work. She is survived by her children, Chad Belanger, and daughter Monica Godwin and son-in-law Russell Godwin; her grandchildren, Joey Godwin of Georgia, Jason Godwin of Florida, Miles Godwin of Kentucky, Andrew Godwin of Kentucky, Caleb Godwin of Michigan, Elizabeth Godwin of Michigan, Nevaeh Belanger of Michigan, Katherine Godwin of Michigan, Victoria Godwin of Michigan, and Elijah Belanger of Michigan; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Gertrude Burns, and her brother, Roger Burns. A funeral will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, beginning at 2 pm at Kalkaska Funeral Home, with visitation from 12 pm until the service. Interment will follow later at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. Contributions were suggested to the Cherryland Humane Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
