Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batter Kusal Mendis is likely to miss the first Test against India at the Galle International Stadium, scheduled to begin from Saturday, August 15 onwards.
The 31-year-old had recently featured in the Test series against the West Indies, before representing the Colombo Kaps in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026, where he suffered a hamstring injury.
AdKusal Mendis, leading the franchise, was retired hurt for two runs off four deliveries in the Kaps' six-wicket win over the Kandy Royals.
