The man, aged over 80 years, who was living in an old age home in Sonipat of Haryana, was cremated by the staff of the old age home and the villagers in the home itself after the three daughters attended the funeral via video call from different locations.
The former textile trader from Mumbai was staying at the old age home for almost two years, according to reports.
The old-age home had told all three daughters that their father's health had degraded and eventually told them of his death.
Shivcharan Gupta, 74, a cloth merchant living in an old age home in Sonipat, died yesterday.
The old man used to call his daughters on his mobile phone before his condition worsened, said old-age home administrator Anand Kumar.
