Khammam: The Centre on Thursday informed the Lok Sabha that 5,15,084 households in Telangana have been provided electricity connections under the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana (Saubhagya), contributing to the electrification of 2,86,13,424 households across the country under the flagship scheme. The minister said that during the 2025-26 financial year, the average daily power supply in rural areas across India stood at 22.36 hours, while Telangana recorded 24-hour electricity supply, reflecting the state’s performance in ensuring uninterrupted power availability. The Centre clarified that electricity distribution falls within the jurisdiction of state governments, while the Union government continues to support the objective of providing reliable 24x7 power supply to consumers across the country. The Centre said the project was approved at an estimated cost of Rs 6.79 crore, of which Rs 4.07 crore was sanctioned as central financial assistance. An amount of Rs 2.07 crore has already been released towards implementation, the minister added.
