WARANGAL: Maripeda police arrested five youths for allegedly transporting ganja from Odisha to Nalgonda district and seized 2.240 kg of the contraband, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno car, four mobile phones and Rs 1,500 in cash. Maripeda Sub-Inspector Gandrathi Satheesh, along with police personnel Islavath Ravinder, Ramesh, Venkanna and woman constable Shantha, was conducting the checks when a Baleno car approached at high speed. The seized ganja weighed 2 kg and 240 grams and was valued at approximately Rs 1.12 lakh, police said. According to the CI, the accused rented the Baleno car on a self-drive basis in Nalgonda and travelled to Odisha to purchase ganja. He appealed to people to share information about those consuming, selling or transporting ganja, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential and suitable rewards would be provided.
