Artist Angus Macaskill has unveiled his latest gate painting, depicting Andy and Marie‑France Burnham walking into a stylised 10 Downing Street. Mr Macaskill is well known in Olveston for turning his garden gates into a changing canvas of topical scenes. He says the Burnham image is meant to capture the optimism of the moment rather than make a partisan statement. "Whether or not we are behind him politically, we should all be wishing him well," Mr Macaskill said. The piece is created in mixed media – felt‑tip, acrylic and oil – on unprimed plywood, a rough‑and‑ready surface typical of the way Mr Macaskill produces his larger, more expressive works.
