FarmLink Education Ltd, based at Lower Stock Farm, near to the airport, has secured the grant from Bristol Airport’s Local Community Fund to install beehives, create a wildflower meadow and restore raised bed gardens on the site. The work will establish a dedicated pollinator habitat while supporting a major expansion of FarmLink’s environmental education programme for children aged five to 18 in communities surrounding the airport. The farm already hosts thousands of primary school pupils each year to learn about agriculture, food production and the environment. The new bee project is expected to educate around 11,000 pupils annually about the importance of bees and pollination. Tracy Comer, community relations manager at Bristol Airport, said the project was 'a fantastic example of how local organisations can make a meaningful difference by enhancing the local environment while educating the next generation'.
