He had previously admitted three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child, and one charge of possessing a prohibited image of a child. More than 1,800 images were found on his laptop, mainly depicting male children, some aged as young as two years old. These comprised 401 “category A” (the most serious) indecent images, 275 of category B, 1,043 of category C, and 83 prohibited images. Mr Rothwell said Dyer walks with the aid of crutches due to his arthritis, which can flare up at times. Sentencing, Recorder John Philpotts said Dyer possessed “a very large number” of indecent images of children.
