By Izunna Okafor, AwkaCP Nnanna Oji Ama has been posted to take over as the new Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, following the promotion and retirement of the immediate-past Commissioner of Police in the state, AIG Ikioye Orutugu. A native of Edda in Ebonyi State, he attended Government Secondary School, Owutu Edda, before proceeding to Government College, Umuahia. Ama was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in July 21, 2025. Optimism abounds that his previous experience as Area Commander in Nnewi may prove valuable, given his familiarity with the security landscape of Anambra State. Expectations are also high that the incoming commissioner will build on the massive achievements recorded by his predecessor, AIG Orutugu, while strengthening intelligence-driven policing, community partnerships, and other strategies aimed at improving security across Anambra State.
