Two European companies have signed a $4.32-billion contract for the construction of a set of twin tunnels and two new underground stations that will connect the planned Ontario Line with the Line 2 TTC subway. The project, called the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations, will be built by a joint venture between Italy's Webuild Group and a subsidiary of Spain's FCC Construcción, FCC Canada Ltd. As part of that contract, Webuild Group will also supply trains and technological systems for the new Ontario Line.
