Police charged Andrew Potts, 44, of St Andrews Crescent, Whitehaven, as well as 40-year-old Antony Gunn and 35-year-old Melissa Howlett, both of no fixed address, following an alleged assault in Workington on July 29. During a hearing at Workington Magistrates’ Court, the three were told that their case will be sent to Carlisle Crown Court for a plea hearing on August 28. After legal discussions, the three defendants, who were all legally represented, were remanded in custody pending their appearance at the crown court. Before the court hearing, Cumbria Constabulary confirmed that the defendants were charged following an assault in Workington’s Peter Street in the early hours of Wednesday, July 29. At the time of going to press, there was no update from the police on his medical condition.
