Cumberland Council has reported that 26 street lights have been deliberately damaged in Cockermouth in recent weeks, resulting in repair costs estimated at £8,000. Karl Melville, assistant director for highways and transport at Cumberland Council, said: "Deliberately damaging public infrastructure is not acceptable. "We are working to repair or replace the damaged equipment and will continue to monitor the situation closely."
