A 55-year-old Mississippi man was killed in a wreck involving a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler Tuesday morning. At approximately 6:50 a.m., a crew cab GMC pickup and a Peterbilt tractor-trailer truck collided at the intersection between Farmbelt Equipment and Easthaven Baptist Church. The Peterbilt was traveling west on 84 when the pickup, which had been traveling eastbound on the highway, attempted to turn left onto Natchez Drive. Brookhaven Police, Brookhaven Fire, Mississippi Highway Patrol, KDMC Ambulance Service, and Brookhaven-Lincoln County Emergency Management responded to the crash. Kevin Shoemake, 55, the driver of the GMC, suffered fatal injuries from the wreck and was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Blake Wallace.
