TEHRAN: After weeks of uncertainty over one of the world’s busiest energy routes, Iran and Oman have moved closer to restoring a controlled shipping pathway through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz, located between Iran and Oman, is a critical global trade passage through which nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supplies normally pass.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s Houthi group claimed responsibility for attacks on two Saudi oil tankers, further adding to concerns over maritime security in the region.
However, Tehran has denied claims of direct negotiations with Washington and has maintained that future arrangements will be handled with Oman.
While the agreement with Oman marks a potential step toward reopening maritime access, uncertainty remains over wider security arrangements and control of the strategic waterway.
