John Fenney, of Matthew Street, St Helens, was taken to the Lovely Lane hospital on June 10 after he was witnessed collapsing.
The 53-year-old had been running for a bus, Warrington Coroner’s Court heard, as an inquest was opened into his death on Wednesday.
Despite CPR being administered, Mr Fenney sadly did not recover and was pronounced dead that same day.
There is reason to suspect the cause of death was unnatural, therefore an inquest was formerly opened by Cheshire coroner Victoria Davies.
This was adjourned to take place on November 12, with a case review set to take place on September 28.
