A Georgia grand jury indicted former Evanston/Skokie School District 65 Superintendent Devon Horton on one felony charge of aggravated assault and two misdemeanor counts of cruelty against children Tuesday. Horton is set to appear for his arraignment on Sept. 2 in the DeKalb County Superior Court. Beginning in 2020, Horton served as District 65’s superintendent before leaving Evanston to become superintendent of DeKalb County Schools from 2023 to 2025. Less than a week after his indictment, the DeKalb County Board of Education accepted Horton’s resignation.
