Residents turned out in force to share their opposition to plans to build an Islamic Center off Swift Arrow Drive off Morrison Plantation Parkway. “I am here in opposition of the proposed Islam Center of Lake Norman,” said Mooresville resident Jan Wright. Town Board issues statementAfter the meeting, town officials released the following statement:The Town of Mooresville Board of Commissioners recognizes that the proposed Islamic Center has generated significant public interest, and we appreciate the residents who have respectfully shared their questions, concerns, and perspectives. Religious use has been permitted on the property since it was annexed into the town limits in 1998.
