The brightly coloured bin, placed on the waterfront at New Brighton, is part of a campaign to stop plastic waste entering the sea and harming marine life. It was unveiled by the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Mary Jordan and the charity's founder Fazilette Khan on Tuesday (August 4). It features the slogan "Throw marine life a lifeline" and illustrations of sea creatures alongside plastic waste. The New Brighton bin is the 27th BinForGreenSeas unit installed in coastal areas across the UK. "We hope this BinForGreenSeas installation will inspire residents and visitors alike to think differently about plastic, recycle more often, and recognise that small everyday actions can make a meaningful difference in protecting our seas."
