The Chilean flamingos have joined the zoo from Auchingarrich Wildlife Park in Scotland, nearly doubling the size of the existing flock and taking the total to 64.
The birds spent time in quarantine upon arrival before moving in with the zoo’s current flock of 25 on August 3 and now form a single “flamboyance”.
(Image: CZS)Chilean flamingos are listed as “near threatened” on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, with an estimated 200,000 left in the wild.
Visitors to the zoo can help support conservation efforts simply by purchasing a ticket.
Other ways to support include adopting a flamingo or making a donation to the zoo.
