KALKASKA [mdash] It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Paul Daniel Peterson of Kalkaska, Michigan, who passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the age of 74. Paul was born on September 26, 1950, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Peter Peterson and Lorraine (Peterson) VanStrien. He was recognized for his innovative electronics abilities, carpentry skills, and known by all for his incredible ingenuity, willingness to help others in need, and his deep love for the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheri Peterson; his children, Chris (Angie) Peterson and Carrie (Samuel) Long; his grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Peterson, Nathan Peterson, Elijah Long, Sophia Long, and Isaac Peterson; and his great-granddaughter, Eleanor. He is also survived by three siblings, Bob, Carol and Joe, and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and one younger brother, Rick. Paul loved God above all else, and he took great pride in his family. He touched many lives with his dedication to helping others in need. He truly lived up to his nickname "MacGyver" in Kalkaska with ingenious ideas and ways to fix the unfixable. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11 am at Elk Rapids Bible Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home.
