Police on a routine patrol found an Inverness man was driving while heavily under the influence of cannabis.
Officers who stopped 20-year-old James Nicol on the city’s Kenneth Street observed reddening around his eyes and smelled cannabis within his car, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.
Fiscal depute Sarah McNeill told the court Nicol was stopped on that stretch of the A82 at 8.10pm on February 8 this year.
They took a saliva specimen by the roadside which tested positive for the drug, before procedures at the police station later showed the young joiner had more than three times the legal limit in his blood.
Sheriff Mark Stewart banned Nicol from driving for 12 months and fined him £200.
