In a rare occurrence, the provincial Ministry of Forestry and Parks has been charged under the OHS Act in relation to a firefighter's death during the Jasper wildfire response in 2024. The Ministry of Forestry and Parks has been charged as an employer with six counts under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. RCMP said Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety was investigating at the time of his death in 2024. The Ministry of Forestry and Parks did not respond to a request for comment from the News.19-18
