Judge voices concern as legal aid strike leaves remand prisoners waiting
['Chris Mcnulty']

Defendants held in custody continue to bear the brunt of the ongoing criminal legal aid solicitors' strike.
One defendant who appeared before Judge Brendan O’Reilly at Donegal District Court is on remand awaiting a hearing date.
The defendant told Judge O’Reilly: “There are people in here who have committed worse crimes than me.”
“There are better places to spend August than Castlrea,” remarked Judge O’Reilly.
Judge O’Reilly said he was adjourning the matter until August 19th when Boudebaba must either plead guilty or seek a hearing date.
