A man has been charged after a police officer was threatened with a knife in Glasgow city centre. An officer from the Retail Crime Taskforce was in the premises investigating a recent spate of shoplifting incidents when the assault took place. A 32-year-old man was subsequently traced in the city centre the next day. He has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on August 6. “We will continue to have dedicated patrols within Glasgow city centre to deter and detect criminality and would encourage anyone with information or concerns to approach our officers or call 101.”
