The Subaru Forester allegedly used to abduct a medical doctor in Juja before he was rescued by police in Athi River. The attackers restrained him with handcuffs and forced him into a Subaru Forester bearing registration number KBK 895W before driving off. The suspects drove Kerich through several locations, subjecting him to torture and demanding KSh 3 million for his release, before heading in the direction of Athi River. Acting on intelligence gathered with the help of members of the public, officers traced the vehicle and intercepted it along the Mavemba–Mugoya Road in Athi River. Officers seized a pair of handcuffs believed to have been used in the abduction, and the Subaru Forester was impounded as an exhibit to support the ongoing investigation.
