Okay News reports that the FIFA Management Board and Secretary General Mattias Grafstrom released a joint statement acknowledging errors in handling the scrapped FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan. Following the emergency meeting, the leadership stated they “reaffirmed their full support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino, as the only official elected by the 211 FIFA Member Associations.” The statement added, “It was agreed that it was not the intention for the FIFA Council and FIFA Member Associations to feel excluded from the process and that the process should have been handled differently.” The officials confirmed that a separate letter of apology was sent to member associations. Infantino withdrew the privatization plan on Saturday, August 1, 2026, after opposition from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and North and Central American football’s governing body, CONCACAF.
