SLO County pulls proposed sales tax for roads off the ballotAugust 6, 2026By KAREN VELIEThe San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on Wednesday to remove a proposed .5% sales tax measure for transportation projects from the November ballot. At an estimated cost of $588,000, the SLO Council of Governments (SLOCOG) had planned to place the proposed tax on the November ballot, as Measure H. However, because Measure H is unlikely to receive the two-thirds vote required to pass, the Local Transportation Authority asked SLOCOG to pull the measure. On Wednesday morning, the SLOCOG board voted unanimously to withdraw Measure H while some members spoke of plans to place a similar measure on the 2028 ballot. Even though the SLO County Board of Supervisors also voted to remove Measure H from the ballot, both supervisors Jimmy Paulding and Dawn Ortiz-Legg noted their support of bringing the proposed tax back in 2028.
