In managing Peri Park, town officials emphasized that recreation and safety remain the two primary factors. Fairfax, along with many neighboring municipalities, prohibits the use of chemical pesticides on public lands, particularly inside parks and playgrounds. The playground at Peri Park in Fairfax is closed as the town copes with a bad case of fleas. After the steam cleaning process is completed, town staff will monitor the playground to ensure the fleas have been eradicated. If the treatment is successful, Fairfax officials say Peri Park Playground could reopen as early as Aug. 7.
