Thanks to a $10,000 Re-Greening Grant from BC Hydro, the City of Cranbrook has added new trees and plants to several well-used community spaces, helping make the community greener, healthier, and more welcoming. The grant, through BC Hydro’s Re-Greening Program, supported new tree planting at the Muriel Baxter Dog Park, where Douglas fir trees have been affected by beetle damage. In addition to the tree planting, the Re-Greening grant helped fill empty spaces in garden beds around Cranbrook, including at the two Welcome to Cranbrook signs and in the downtown core. A very big thank you to the Parks team with Public Works for all the effort in coordinating and planting the new trees and plants. The BC Hydro Re-Greening Grant is helping Cranbrook continue to invest in green spaces that benefit residents today and in the future.
