Approximately 300 people have already received assistance through the Prime Minister’s Vision Initiative, as the government continues providing free vision screenings and reading glasses to residents 40 and older. The programme, conducted in collaboration with RestoringVision, is aimed at improving access to basic vision care, particularly for people who may require reading glasses. Eligible participants receive a vision screening before being provided with reading glasses suited to their needs at no cost. The ministry is encouraging residents 40 and older who have not yet participated to take advantage of the programme as it continues through different communities. The Prime Minister’s Vision Initiative began on July 31 and is expected to continue through Dec. 15, with services being offered at designated locations across Antigua and Barbuda.
