July construction PMI 44.7 vs 40.0 expectedPrior 38.4The downturn in the UK construction sector eased in July as all three main categories recorded a slower drop in business activity. Commercial work (46.8) showed the greatest resilience, while civil engineering activity again saw the steepest pace of decline (38.3). Meanwhile, house building activity fell at the slowest pace since October 2025 (41.8). This comes as the decline in total new business received by construction companies eased to the weakest in 10 months during July. Adding to that good news is a further easing in price pressures as well.
