Senate Agriculture Committee Republicans are evaluating whether a one-year SNAP cost-shift delay “needs to be adjusted' in the panel's proposed farm bill, Chairman John Boozman, R-Ark., tells Agri-Pulse. “It's not even a full one-year delay," Dottie Rosenbaum, director of federal SNAP policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, said. "It includes a one-year delay in when states have to start paying the SNAP cost shift, but it doesn't give states any more time to lower the costs." Boozman, who hopes to get strong bipartisan backing for the bill at a committee vote Thursday, said forging the one-year delay was tough. Boozman also said that states will soon get help reducing error rates, including reevaluating how sampling is done.
