As UK solar moves further into the mainstream, the question is, are we thinking broadly enough about the energy transition? For many businesses, especially those with large roofs and daytime electricity demand, that case is hard to ignore. The National Grid expects electricity demand to grow by at least 50% in the next decade, largely driven by AI data centres and EVs. In industry this is a particularly big problem, given 70% of its energy demand is for heat. It is time the UK solar, and net zero, conversation pivoted to heat.
