Trying to control a woman’s fertilityEarly cavemen were mystified by women’s ability to create life.
They felt it was unfair that only women could do this and especially since men were bigger, stronger, faster.
Why weren’t men superior in every way?
Once men found out they had any part in the process, they tried to convince everyone that they had the primary part.
They believed that their sperm contained a fully formed human being (a homunculus) that they planted in the woman.
