A 44-year-old man accused of causing the large wildfire in the Pastra area of the Greek island of Kefalonia has been remanded in custody following his testimony before judicial authorities. According to reports, the suspect will be transferred to Agios Stefanos Prison in Patras after an investigating magistrate and prosecutor ordered his pretrial detention. The fire, which broke out late Saturday night in the Pastra area, caused extensive damage, burning more than 6,000 stremmas (1,480 acres) of agricultural and forest land in the Municipal Unit of Eleios-Pronnoi. ), the suspect allegedly started the blaze shortly after 11 p.m. using an open flame.
