File Image / PixabayIndian shipbuilder Swan Defence and Heavy Industries (SDHI) has secured an order from maritime service provider Svitzer to build four fuel-efficient tugs.
The design, jointly developed by Svitzer and Robert Allan Ltd., is intended for harbour towage and escort operations.
The tugs will deliver 80 tonnes of bollard pull and are designed to be up to 15% more bunker fuel efficient than conventional tug designs.
Svitzer operates more than 500 vessels worldwide, and the order forms part of its long-term fleet renewal programme.
