Five kangaroos have been discovered drowned in an irrigation channel lined with slippery black plastic in the NSW Riverina city of Griffith. School bus driver Anita Tovo had felt relaxed after returning from a seven-week holiday to Italy, but the sight left her feeling stressed. Anita has been documenting the problem for over five years, regularly filming and photographing dead kangaroos in the water. This photo from May 2026 shows a kangaroo drowned in the irrigation channel next to a rope ladder designed to help the animals climb out.
