Following his death, Hampshire police reopened the case and Ms McClure was re-interviewed, but no further action will be taken against her, the force confirmed. The inquest heard a CT scan showed an obstruction in his small bowel and a doctors decided to operate, but his condition deteriorated and he died. He later told police: “All I remember is Bernice stabbing me and I heard someone say ‘I’ll kill you, you b******’.” In interview, Ms McClure admitted stabbing Gary, but told police she thought he was assaulting Maria. Bernadette McClure in defence of that female armed herself with a large kitchen and stabbed Gary Lamb in order to stop him from assaulting her.
