MP slams disabled bus pass cuts and £500k legal fight as ‘outrageous’

Disabled bus pass holders in Hampshire used to be able to travel free at any time, with the county council funding an enhancement to the national English concessionary scheme.
Mr Murphy contrasted the savings from bus pass cuts with Hampshire County Council’s decision to pursue a judicial review against the government’s plans for local government reorganisation in Hampshire and the Solent.
Hampshire County Council said its judicial review could avoid far greater long-term costs if reorganisation goes wrong.
Mr Murphy said he would continue pressing for the bus pass restrictions to be lifted, both with Hampshire County Council and with any future unitary authority that takes over transport responsibilities.
