NVM Express has released the NVMe 2.4 specification set, updating eleven documents covering the base protocol, command sets, management, booting and transports including PCIe, TCP and RDMA.
Combined with expanded event reporting, this could help data centers identify failing power delivery, connector problems or abnormal SSD behavior before a complete failure occurs.
NVMe 2.4 does not immediately make existing drives faster.
It seems NVMe is evolving beyond a storage command protocol into a more complete security, virtualization and resource-management framework.
