New Taunton development could bring improved travel link into town centre

Bloor Homes South West is currently constructing the first 242 homes within the Quantock Park estate (a.k.a.
Staplegrove West), which will eventually comprise 713 homes, commercial space and a spine road running from the A358 Staplegrove Road as far as Whitmore Lane.
Taunton Town Council has now agreed to make improvements to an existing walking and cycling link across its land to enable the new residents to access local shops, schools and the town centre without constantly relying on the private car.
Those wishing to reach the Aldi supermarket on Chip Lane (the nearest to the new homes at present) can continue along Bindon Road and the A3027 Staplegrove Road, with an off-road path into the town centre being available thereafter to those wishing to reach the town centre.
Under the outline planning permission for the Staplegrove West site, traffic calming measures on Manor Road (along with any active travel improvements must be implemented before construction on the spine road is completed.
