WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Two sheriff's deputies shot and killed an 18-year-old man who was attacking his father with a butcher knife during a welfare check Wednesday night, according to the sheriff. Two deputies arrived at the home located at the 2900 block of Hope Valley Street at around 8:15 p.m. and heard screaming. The deputies entered through the front door, where they found the father and son in a violent struggle over a butcher knife with an approximately 5-inch blade. Deputies also gave verbal commands ordering the suspect to drop the knife. The father was taken to a hospital with a superficial wound to his hands.
