FIREFIGHTERS say the number of outdoor blazes across Staffordshire doubled in July compared to the same time last year. Recent statistics have revealed that Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service crews were called to around 600 outdoor fires last month – an average of 20 incidents every day. “The 600 outdoor fires are also in addition to all the other types of incident that our crews deal with on a daily basis.” Martin said:“This high number of incidents cannot become the norm and so we’re asking for people to support us in some simple ways. “We have seen a number of devastating fires nationally this year – please help us keep Staffordshire safe this summer.”
