The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announced new closures at Cunningham Falls State Park around Hunting Creek Lake after a second teenager was bitten by a beaver Wednesday morning. According to DNR, a 19-year-old fisherman was bitten on the leg by a beaver in the South Beach Day area of the park. On July 26, a 13-year-old boy was flown to a Baltimore hospital after he was bitten by a beaver at Cunningham Falls State Park. The department said beaver attacks are rare and the last recorded instance of beaver bites in the state occured in 2021 and 2015. All other areas of Cunningham Falls State Park remain open to visitors.
