The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has rolled out new cargo declaration requirements for exporters shipping goods to Kenya, requiring them to obtain an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) reference code before dispatching cargo. Under the new process, exporters must submit an Advance Cargo Declaration through KRA’s online platform before they load cargo for shipment. The tax authority also advised businesses to complete the Advance Cargo Declaration before dispatching cargo, to prevent disruptions in shipping operations. The new requirement builds on the launch of the Advance Cargo Declaration platform, which allows exporters to submit cargo details electronically before sending goods to Kenya. Exporters can complete the process through KRA’s Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) online platform before shipping their goods to Kenya.
