A proposed 700-acre motor sports park in Powhatan has hit a speed bump. The Powhatan County Planning Commission voted unanimously on Tuesday to recommend denial of Throttle Therapy’s plans to open a recreational park for riding ATVs and dirt bikes across two sprawling parcels southwest of Rocky Ford Road. The proposal will still go in front of the Powhatan County Board of Supervisors for a deciding vote at its August meeting. In an interview with BizSense on Wednesday, McAdoo said Throttle Therapy has no plans to pull its application following the planning commission’s denial recommendation. If the project is approved, Throttle Therapy plans to lease the land for 15 years.
