Australian Story: Aug 10“We're often told this is a historical issue,” says campaigner Tristan Stanley transfused with infected blood. Australian Story profiles campaigner Tristan Stanley, who has been living with hepatitis C since he was a young boy, now seeking recognition for the harm done by infected blood. During the 1970s, 80s and 90s, up to 20,000 Australians, including children, contracted hepatitis C and / or HIV after being transfused with infected blood. Tristan Stanley, who lives with haemophilia, was infected with hepatitis C as a young boy and survived. Armed with new evidence and buoyed by the findings of a recent UK inquiry, Tristan Stanley wants accountability and a national apology.
