A Morrison man has been charged with four sex offenses, including predatory criminal sexual assault, according to Whiteside County court records and the Illinois State Police. He is charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a victim younger than 13, alleged to have occurred in May 2021; and two counts of criminal sexual assault with force and one count of criminal sexual assault of a family member younger than 18, all alleged to have occurred on Oct. 1, 2022. According to the ISP, that agency opened an investigation in May in connection with allegations of sex crimes in Wisconsin and Illinois. Coers is being held in the Whiteside County Jail pending a court appearance set for 1 p.m. Friday. The Sauk County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin, Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Savanna Police Department, Morrison Police Department, the Madison, Wisconsin, FBI office, ISP SWAT, ISP Patrol, and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office of Forensics assisted with the investigation.​
