The Historic Ridgeway Project has been awarded £129,100 from Historic England's Regional Capacity Building Grant Programme to continue its work until May 1, 2028. Funding will allow the scheme, which supports hands-on conservation and community engagement along the historic Ridgeway National Trail, which passes through Oxfordshire, to expand its reach into Buckinghamshire for the first time. Dan Bashford, Project Manager, said: "Every section of the Ridgeway National Trail has its own archaeological story to tell. Until now, the project has focused on a 30-mile central stretch of the 87-mile Ridgeway Trail in Oxfordshire and West Berkshire. At the heart of the Historic Ridgeway Project is the condition and stewardship of the trail’s 47 Scheduled Monuments, all legally protected and of national importance.
